Why Mental Hip Hop?

Its all in the name. Its all right there… MENTAL

The word Mental for me symbolizes the need to improve our capacity to think, learn and grow. It also means that in order to be better at the things listed above, we have to be mentally healthy- Ready to withstand the obstacles that will surely come our way. We have to fortify our minds to get us through the tough times of uncertainty and fear, as well as have the ability to enjoy the good times.

Mental health is also very important. Some of us are dealing with past traumas, abuse, addictions, anxiety, fears and many other mental disorders. Mental health, for me, has a special place in my heart and mind . I value my mental health. I am still growing and learning how to be a better version of myself, which wouldn’t be possible if my mental health was not good. Unfortunately, millions of people are suffering with some sort of mental illness. I’m hoping to help people understand and accept those who are less fortunate, and who are dealing with mental illnesses. I also want to focus on those who may just need a little mental push. Everyone has a place here.

Its all in the name. Its all right there… HIP HOP

We all know what HIP-HOP is and what it means to the world. Whether your a follower of HIP-HOP or not, you know that its an ever growing culture that spans the globe. Most of us have that favorite HIP-HOP song or beat that they love. But what I would like to focus on is the word, CULTURE. HIP-HOP is without a doubt, a culture. Culture is defined as: The behaviors and beliefs characteristic of a particular social, ethnic or age group. HIP- HOP has its own unique ideals, philosophies, characteristics, and rules. HIP-HOP was born at a party in the South Bronx, NY in the mid 70’s. and has grown into an empire of influence and economic vitality.

In other words, HIP-HOP can not be denied as a culture or a state of mind. This is why it is a great addition to the brand name of this site- The culture of mental health and self awareness or simply: MENTAL HIP-HOP: PROMOTING COMPASSION FOR THE LESS FORTUNATE AND ACCEPTANCE FOR ALL.
